Power Pages Dynamics 365 Templates Missing

You might be spinning a new 30-day trial to experiment with the Power Pages portals functionality on a Dynamics 365 tenant. And you might find that the templates for Dynamics 365 are not presented. If so, keep on reading.

The issue is happening when you create your first site. The questions has been asked in several places in the forums, and the answers I’ve seen so far are not really relevant. Besides comment like contact Microsoft, or it shows for me, it looks like a dead-end.

Yet, it’s not. Buried deep inside the Microsoft documentation, there’s a single line that give it away. It’s available as shown below:

So, all you have to do is go to https://make.powerpages.microsoft.com and select your environment where Dynamics 365 apps are installed. Then, you can simply create a new site using the Blank template. You can remove this later when you’re done.

Now, if you go create another site, there you are, the Dynamics 365 templates are now showing as expected.

Yup, it’s convoluted, and not obvious at all at first sight. Hopefully Microsoft can re-wire this correctly so you don’t need an extra steps for nothing. I’m sure behind the scenes the first site creates elements needed, but it feels like having to do all this should not be necessary.

Hope this saves some time in your search for a solution.

Cheers!
