Microsoft Power Platform Licensing

Let me start by making this statement: I’m not planning on specializing in licensing, I just deal with it when needed.

Microsoft Power Platform is a suite of business application platforms that includes Power BI, Power Apps, Power Automate, and Power Virtual Agents. The pricing and licensing for Power Platform products varies depending on the specific product and the level of functionality you need.

Power BI is a business analytics service that provides interactive visualizations with self-service business intelligence capabilities. It is available in several pricing plans, including a free version, Power BI Free, and paid versions, Power BI Pro and Power BI Premium.

Power Apps is a low-code platform that allows you to build custom business applications for web and mobile platforms. It is available in several pricing plans, including a free developer version, a limited version included in the Microsoft 365 licensing, Power Apps per app plan and Power Apps per user plan.

Power Automate is a cloud-based service that enables you to create automated workflows between your favorite apps and services to get notifications, synchronize files, and collect data. It is available in several pricing plans, including a free Desktop version, and paid versions similar to Power Apps, Power Automate per User Plan and Power Automate per Flow Plan. There is also a Power Automate per User Plan with attended RPA.

Power Virtual Agents is a chatbot service that allows you to create and publish virtual agents to help customers with tasks and answer questions. It is available in a paid version, Power Virtual Agents.

Power BI:

This plan licenses only the top flows, with all child flows part of the initial licensing context. Power Automate per Flow Plan is available with a monthly or annual billing option.

Power Virtual Agents:

  • Power Virtual Agents: This is a paid version of Power Virtual Agents that allows you to create and publish virtual agents to help customers with tasks and answer questions. It includes access to all the features of Power Virtual Agents, and is available as a per-bot subscription, with a monthly or annual billing option.
